The hotel uses nature's well-being effects to calm the busy minds of business travelers. The spectacular wooden architectural hotel Solo Sokos Hotel Pier 4 on the Katajanokka pier will open on Monday, August 26. The hotel opening by the sea offers a comprehensive, multi-sensory experience where nature is strongly present.
Nature is strongly present and palpable in all rooms of the impressive wooden building that opens onto Helsinki's Katajanokka pier. The architecture of the entrance hall, the sound world and the proximity of the sea take the guest to the edge of a multi-sensory experience from the very first steps. All of the hotel's 164 rooms are equipped with high-quality materials, and the wall-high windows open out onto the seascape, the charming city views of Katajanokka, or the nature area of the courtyard. The hotel also has banquet and meeting rooms for events of up to 460 people, a versatile wellness and fitness room, and a sauna.
The strengthening and calming effect of Finnish nature has been proven in numerous studies. Connection with nature can also be restored indoors.
Metsä/Skogen has conceptualized a "green thread" for the hotel, which can be found throughout the hotel's various spaces and functions. The nature experience goes from the lobby, through meeting rooms, restaurant worlds, hotel rooms and passageways to the roof terrace, leaving a unique memory for the visitor. At the center of the experiences are the beauty and sensitivity of the Finnish Baltic Sea.
The green thread consists of a whole that appeals to the senses of taste, smell, touch and sight, which Metsä/Skogen has realized together with its partners. For example, a changing and beautiful sound world plays in the different rooms of the hotel, and in the meeting and conference rooms an impressive video work leads to the shores of the Baltic Sea. The hotel's green thread also highlights the hotel's numerous acts of responsibility in a subtle way.
Together with the artist-designer Tuuli Sotamaa as team reinforcement, Metsä/Skogen has designed, among other things, the hotel's Wellness space. The space invites hotel guests to the edge of well-being; to move, recover and relax - to pause by the body. The atmosphere of the space is created by natural haptic materials and translucent fabrics that embrace the space, on which are printed close-up pictures of the nature of the coast and archipelago, from the morning dew to the evening sun and from the first flowers of summer to the line-like stems of late summer. The pictures are like light whispers from the shores of the Baltic Sea.
In addition, Metsä/Skogen has implemented products for the hotel's rooms, restaurant and lobby space. All customer gifts designed and implemented by Metsä/Skogen and products sold in the lobby are made in Finland from natural ingredients. The hotel's guests are welcomed with Metsä/Skogen's signature product, pine cone with the scent of a coniferous forest.
